Happy Tails: Phoenix & Collin

"I adopted 2 amazing cats Combine (Collin Robinson) and Cultivater (Phoenix) in March 2025.  I wanted to let your staff know that they are doing well, loved, and cared for.

"I live in Yosemite National Park, CA.  My uncle passed away and there were cats left on his farm. I got 10 cats neutered/spayed, vaccinated, and flea/tick/heart worm applications and found homes for some. My family fed the remaining cats until the farm sold, as I had to go back to work. I got in touch with the new owner and he trapped the last 5 cats. The new farm owner took them to DRHS, where you all found homes for 3 of them (Wagon, Harvester, and Tractor) and then I adopted the last 2. I adopted them on March 7th, 2025.

"Customer Care Representatives Ruth & Michaela were a pleasure to communicate with as I planned the logistics to get the 2 kitties from IA to CA. We had 2 plane rides CID-DEN, DEN-FAT and they didn’t make a sound as I can only imagine how confused and scared they must have been.  No potty issues and uneventful travels.

"Collin was a 2 day kitty to get comfortable with my husband and I in the new home. Phoenix took 2 months to get comfortable with my husband and I in the new home. Patience, food, and lots of love really paid off because both of them are confident, comfortable, goofy, and dearly loved. Phoenix likes to snuggle us on our bed and sofa, she likes her mouse toys and lots of pets/ scratches! Collin loves to go in the back yard, go on walks (with a harness and leash) , catch mice in the garage and bring them into the house… yes seems a bit backwards and play play play.

"Thank you again for caring for the farm cats and finding them homes!  All the staff were amazing and so nice and supportive of my many visits to get the last 2 cats used to me and their carriers back in March. The work and volunteering that happens at the DRHS matters to every single little & big soul that pass through the doors and your work is important!  Thank you for choosing to do what you all do!" - Katie
