Happy Tails: Dabby

"I wanted to send an update on Crocodile, now named Dabby. She was very shy during our interaction period at the shelter, and for the first three-ish weeks she lived behind our washer, under the couch, in our lower cabinets (empty of anything dangerous) and under the beds. Very timid, but we anticipated this.

"We spent a lot of time during the first three weeks laying on the floor with our hands extended under the furniture so she could sniff and get familiar with our presence, and slowly allow us to interact for a few moments. She also had her own food, water, and litter near her hiding spot. She very slowly started peeking out from under the furniture to get a look at us and what we were doing.  Eventually she started coming all the way out into the open.

"Not to be "sappy" but I can still remember the first time Tony and I saw her sitting out in the open looking around, and not running for cover as soon as she noticed us. It was thrilling, and we celebrated every milestone. Frankie - our other kitten who is two months younger than she - and Dabby have gotten along great from day one, and he has been teaching her How To Cat Now That You Have A Furever Home, having been a former stray himself.

"And now, you wouldn't even guess she had ever been that shy kitten.  She is a full participate in life. She is such a lovely cat and it was so delightful for us to watch her get more comfortable with our house and start becoming Herself. I am so glad we stopped in to the shelter that day. <3" - Viktorja & Tony
