Are you passionate about animal welfare and delivering exceptional community service? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, people-focused environment where no two days are the same? If so, we invite you to join our team as a Community Care Representative at the Dubuque Regional Humane Society (DRHS).

This role is the heart of our front-line operations — welcoming visitors, supporting adopters, assisting volunteers, and ensuring the animals in our care receive compassionate attention every day.

About the Role

As a Community Care Representative, you will serve as the first point of contact at our Main Lobby on Kinsey’s Campus. You’ll represent DRHS with professionalism, warmth, and enthusiasm while balancing administrative duties, animal care responsibilities, and community engagement. • Provide thoughtful adoption counseling to ensure the best match for both animal and adopter

  • Create and manage lost and found reports

Administrative & Financial Responsibilities

  • Perform temperament evaluations and assist with vaccinations

  • Restrain dogs safely during evaluations and medical procedures

  • Provide fresh blankets, food, and water during daily care routines

Facility & Team Support

  • Maintain a clean, welcoming, and organized environment (front and back of house)

  • Assist with laundry, dishes, sweeping, mopping, garbage removal, and snow removal

  • Follow safety guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures

  • Collaborate closely with staff and volunteers as a strong team player

What You Bring

  • A steadfast belief in the mission and values of DRHS

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills

  • Strong multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment

  • Cash-handling and basic computer/data entry skills

  • Confidence and experience handling animals

  • Flexibility to work days, evenings, and weekends

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and remain active (standing, bending, twisting) throughout the day

Work Environment

This role involves hands-on animal interaction and regular exposure to:

  • Animal odors and noise
