The Oakley Fund
A Legacy of Care

The Oakley Fund was established in honor of Andy Ciapolo and his beloved dog, Oakley, a bond rooted in companionship, trust, and deep, unwavering love.
Andy was first introduced to the Dubuque Regional Humane Society through his brother, Roman Ciapolo, whose own connection began by adopting animals from our shelter. Though Andy called Washington state home, he held a deep fondness for the work being done here in Dubuque and the animals we serve. What started as an introduction quickly grew into something much more meaningful. Through his friendship with Jane McCall and his annual participation in Tails at Twilight, Andy became a valued part of our community, someone who showed up with quiet generosity and a sincere compassion for animals.
At the heart of it all was Oakley. More than a pet, Oakley was Andy’s constant companion, a reflection of the profound bond between people and animals, and a reminder of why this work matters every single day.

This extraordinary gift, made by Andy, establishes a restricted endowment dedicated to supporting medical and veterinary care for animals in need. The Oakley Fund ensures that Andy and Oakley’s legacy will live on by providing compassionate, high-quality care to the animals who need it most.
An endowment is one of the most powerful ways to create lasting change. By preserving the principal gift and using a portion of the earnings each year, funds like the Oakley Fund provide sustainable, reliable support that grows over time. For those who share Andy’s love for animals, including the Dubuque Regional Humane Society in your estate plans is a meaningful way to extend your impact and ensure your values live on for years to come. If you have already included us in your plans or would like to learn more about how to do so, we would be honored to have a conversation with you. We are deeply grateful to Dayle Moss and Roman Ciapolo for helping carry out Andy’s vision and for honoring both him and Oakley in such a meaningful and lasting way.
