Do you have a passion for animal welfare and want to make a meaningful impact in your community? The Dubuque Regional Humane Society is seeking a Volunteer Foster Program Assistant to help support one of our most important lifesaving programs. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit operations, animal welfare, volunteer engagement, and program coordination while helping animals thrive in loving foster homes.

Volunteer (Unpaid) Position
What You'll Do
As a Foster Program Assistant, you'll play an essential role in supporting our Foster Coordinator and ensuring foster families and animals receive the resources they need to succeed. Responsibilities include:

Assist with recruiting, communicating with, and supporting foster volunteers

Maintain foster records and enter data accurately in PetPoint

Prepare and distribute foster orientation and training materials

Coordinate scheduling for vaccinations, veterinary appointments, and wellness checks
-
Monitor the health and behavior of animals in foster care and communicate observations to the Foster Coordinator

Track foster animal movement and maintain accurate documentation
-
Support foster-related events, outreach initiatives, and community engagement activities

Help communicate foster program policies and procedures to volunteers and foster families
What We're Looking For
We're seeking someone who is organized, dependable, and passionate about helping animals. Successful candidates will have:

A genuine interest in animal welfare and nonprofit organizations

Strong administrative skills, including experience with Microsoft Excel, email, and general office tasks

Excellent organizational and communication skills

The ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and the public

Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities

Comfort working directly with animals and performing physical tasks as needed
