Lost & Found Pets
Have you found a stray or lost animal?
The Dubuque Regional Humane Society (DRHS) is the public stray hold facility for the City of Dubuque, Jo Daviess County, and Dubuque County. This means if you found a stray or lost animal within the limits of the City of Dubuque, Jo Daviess County or the Dubuque County that you may bring the animal to the DRHS during our open hours of operation. However, citizens that find stray or lost animals in the municipalities of Asbury, Dyersville, Peosta, Epworth or Grant County, must contact local law enforcement to bring the stray or lost animal to our facility. The taxpayers in our jurisdictions currently provide funds to care for each animal during its stray hold period; we do not receive funding to care for or hold strays brought to us from outside our contracted jurisdictions.
If you find an animal outside of our jurisdiction, you should call the stray holding facility or humane society or the local law enforcement for that area and inquire on who handles animal control and sheltering services in that jurisdiction. Please call your local government if you need assistance locating resources in your county.
