Youth Programs
Kids & Critters Camp Kids entering 2nd-6th grades in the fall of 2013 can spend every afternoon of a summer week learning all about animals and participating in a wide variety of demonstrations from local experts. Campers make friends with other animallovers, have fun with arts & crafts and spend a lot of hands-on time with the animals in our shelter. Cost is $125 per camper. The Dubuque Regional Humane Society's Kids & Companions Club has been replaced by Humane Heroes. Heroes is a junior volunteer program for kids age 8-11 (kids 12 and over can become regular shelter volunteers.)
For a $15 annual membership, your child can learn what it means to be a humane hero. Kids learn about the work of a humane society, pet care and empathy for animals. And, they get to try out all the different ways to volunteer, whether grooming animals, giving basic obedience training, or just playing and having fun with animals! Registration is limited to 20 humane heroes! Shelter Birthday Parties
Calling all party animals! Our Falb Training Center is available for birthday party rentals. All rentals include tables and chairs. Food may be brought in. A refrigerator and microwave are available.
CHOOSE FROM TWO PARTY PACKAGES: Basic: $50 for a 2-hour room rental package including 1 1/2 hours of games and activities led by a staff or trained volunteer, and a 1/2 hour of hands-on time with pets. Limited to 12 child guests.
*NOTE: Pet interaction depend on animals available at the time of the party.
Deluxe: $100 for a 2-hour room rental that includes a shelter tour, a dog or cat theme decorated 9"x13" birthday cake, birthday decorations, games and activities, and hands-on time with pets. Limited to 20 child guests. *NOTE: Pet interaction depend on animals available at the time of the party.
