Canine Basic Obedience 6-Week Course
Obedience is the key to a balanced relationship with your canine companion. Our 6-Week Basic Obedience Course is $95 (or $75 for dogs adopted from the DRHS). Classes are available to all healthy dogs aged 4 months and older with proof of current vaccinations (Distemper/Parvo, Bordetella, and Rabies) who have a clean history of no bites requiring medical intervention. Certified pet trainer Pete Murphy will cover basic commands and help you establish a better relationship with your dog that is built on trust and respect.
The Puppy Connection
Socialization and fundamental training will help you establish a healthy relationship with your new puppy and will set you both on a successful path for the future. The Puppy Connection will empower you with the necessary training tools to raise a well-adjusted dog including: problem prevention, problem solving, management, and of course, socialization. To participate your puppy must be 8 weeks to 4 months old and you must provide proof of current vaccinations (distemper/parvo, bordatella, and *rabies *if old enough).
Classes meet every Saturday, 1-2:30 p.m., at the DRHS Kinsey's Campus, 4242 Chavenelle Rd. Cost is free for DRHS adopted puppies and $35 for others for three consecutive classes. We offer rolling enrollment, so you and your puppy can join any week you're available.
Many common behavior problems escalate if not addressed properly in the beginning. Hundreds of juvenile dogs are surrendered every year for behavior issues that could easily have been prevented or taken care of if addressed as a youngster. This class aims to create responsible pet owners by providing support and education necessary for raising a well-adjusted dog and for maintaining a healthy, positive companionship with your canine.
