Basic Obedience class
Obedience is the key to a balanced relationship with your canine friend built on trust and respect. Our Good Dog Academy classes are 6 weeks in length for each class and are just $95 ($75 for shelter adoptees). Classes are available to all healthy dogs aged 4 months and older with proof of core vaccinations (distemper, bordatella, and rabies) who have a clean history of no bites requiring medical intervention. The trainer matches your dog's personality and your training goals to find the best fit for fido.
Other Training Classes:
The Puppy Connection
Socialization and effective management are key to helping you create a wonderful adult companion dog out of the adorable bundle of fuzz you picked out of the litter of puppies. As such, the DRHS offers a puppy socialization and training class that focuses on problem prevention, problem solving, management, and of course, socialization. Puppy classes are available to all healthy puppies aged 8 weeks to 4 months with proof of current vaccinations (distemper, bordatella, and rabies if old enough). Puppy classes meet every Saturday at 1 to 2:30 at the Kennedy Mall location and are just $35 (or free for all puppies adopted at the shelter). We offer rolling enrollment, so you and your puppy can join any week you're available (just bring your vaccine record along and pay at the first class).
Many common behavior problems escalate if not addressed properly in the beginning. Hundreds of juvenile dogs are surrendered every year for behavior issues that could easily have been prevented or taken care of if addressed as a youngster. This class aims to give you the tools necessary to raise a well-adjusted dog. Activities include lots of fun socialization opportunities, problem prevention, and problem solving, as well as much more. Set your puppy up for success throughout their lives with this beginning class!
