Hayfever and other allergies rarely cause more than a little itching, however, some pets will scratch themselves into a veritable frenzy, causing hair loss, skin damage or serious infections. For pets that are unusually sensitive, vets sometimes recommend giving a series of allergy shots. Given every few days at first and then about once a week for a period of months or years, the shots can help pets become progressively less sensitive.
