PET CARE TIPS
| Urinary Tract Infections |
Some urinary tract infections will clear up on their own even without treatment, but occasionally the bacteria will swim upstream causing a dangerous kidney infection vets call pyelonephritis. Symptoms of kidney infection include frequent or difficult urination and possibly blood in the urine. Some pets can get feverish and lethargic as well. Don't take chances if you notice any changes in your pet's normal urinary habits. He may need oral antibiotics to prevent a small infection from turning into a major problem. If your vet does send you home with antibiotics, the best time to give them is right after your pet urinates. |
